What is KTE.energy?
Transforming south africa
KTE is a transformative Green Hydrogen project in South Africa, which integrates massive electrolysis and renewable energy capacities across an expansive site, prioritizing sustainability and socio-environmental impact while aiming to offer competitively low energy costs to local and global markets.
Redefining energy production
green energy for everyone
85,000 HA Property
Located in the Northern Cape Province of South Africa (55,000 ha owned by KTE and long-term lease agreements for remaining 30,000 ha)
6 GW Renewable Energy
Combined Usage of Photovoltaics (PV), Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) and Wind which will harness the power of nature to drive progress towards a greener future
3.5 GW Green Hydrogen
Production facility powered exclusively with renemable energy from own site with water supply from Orange River and seawater desalination plant in Western Cape Region
Technical Masterplan
explore energy grounds
We have run simulations based on our proprietary data and drafted a technical master plan in close collaboration with blue chip OEMs, plant operators and our engineering partner.
Our ambition is to develop 6 GW until 2028 – but the property has a potential capacity of up to 20 GW, which provides a significant upside.
Project Overview
in detail
Wind Power
Recent wind studies show exceptional onshore winds on the order of magnitude of an average wind speed of up to 8 m/s, peaking at night
Solar Power
Backed by historical and current meteorological data, the selected location is estimated to have irradiance of 3,400+ kWh/m² per year
Liquid Hydrogen
Our cost estimates indicate that the production costs for green hydrogen could decrease to approximately 2.5 US cents per kilogram by the period between 2028 and 2030
