Infrastructure & location

A location with global appeal

Strategic footprint

ideal location for renewable energy

The Northern Cape is one of the sunniest and windiest regions on earth – an exceptional geographical and climatic location that offers ideal conditions for the production of renewable energy.

With over 3,000 kilowatt hours of solar radiation per square meter per year , average wind speeds of more than 8 meters per second, and a wind capacity factor of 45-50%, the region combines conditions that are rarely found anywhere else in the world. But KTE.energy benefits not only from nature, but also from South Africa’s strategic location and political stability.

The Northern Cape offers vast, uninhabited areas with clear ownership structures , a favorable topographical structure and access to national transport and energy networks . These characteristics make the region the perfect starting point for the development of an integrated energy infrastructure that is locally rooted and globally connected.

A new energy generation

A region becomes Africa’s energy center

The construction of the KTE.energy complex in the Northern Cape marks the beginning of a new industrial era for South Africa. A previously structurally weak region is becoming an engine of economic development , a center for green energy, industrial added value and technological progress. The project creates the infrastructural basis for new industries – from hydrogen production and synthetic fuels to high-tech and logistics clusters.

The combination of energy generation, storage, water treatment and export logistics creates a holistic energy ecosystem that strengthens not only South Africa but the entire African continent.

“Where sun and wind dominate today, one of the world’s largest energy centers will emerge tomorrow.”

GreenLink

The lifeline between energy and industry

The planned GreenLink connection will connect KTE.energy to the west of South Africa, in particular to the Western Cape province.

This approximately 450-kilometer-long high-performance corridor will become the infrastructural lifeline between energy production, industrial processing, and the export economy.

This makes GreenLink not just a physical connection between two provinces, but a symbol of South Africa’s energy transition – an axis that links electricity, innovation and economic development.

GreenLink will combine several key functions

  • Energy transmission High-voltage power lines transport large amounts of electricity from the Northern Cape to the industrial centers in the West.
  • Hydrogen and ammonia pipelines enable the safe transport of green molecules to export ports.
  • Data and communication networks create the basis for intelligent, digitally controlled energy systems.
